D + T | Chequessett Yacht Country Club, Cape Cod

If you read last month’s blog post on our favorite Boston and Cape Cod wedding venues, you’ll remember how much we love Chequessett Yacht and Country Club in Cape Cod. Don’t let its fancy name fool you – this beachside venue is perfect for casual and laid back weddings. It’s set on the beach and has both the country club and the boat house for you to host your reception.

Dana and Tucker had one of the most unforgettable, unique, personal weddings of 2018. They wanted a nontraditional feel to their venue and their day, and had so many special details intertwined into their ceremony and reception.

Why Deering Events? Dana and Tucker hired us for our Partial Planning services. Although they’re based locally in Boston, they needed help with the logistics on the Cape. Many of our clients are couples from the Boston area having a destination wedding on Cape Cod – the Cape is close, but not close enough to run over to the venue or the florist for regular check-ins or logistics planning. That’s where our team comes in: to manage the details and take that burden off the couple!

Dana and Tucker also had many unique details to their day, and needed the call in the professionals (us!) to make sure everything up the way they envisioned.

The Vision: Dana and Tucker are one of the most fun couples we’ve ever worked with. They had a bridal “brigade” instead of a bridal party, a group of friends who brought the house down on the dance floor. Including their sweet pup Arrow was super important to them – we couldn’t get over his doggy tuxedo! As always when pets are included in a wedding, there needed to be a plan for a handler: we were able to coordinate things so Arrow was well taken care of and perfectly behaved the whole time. Contrary to popular belief, beach weddings aren’t just for the summer! Dana and Tucker got lucky with a beautiful October day. We incorporated an autumnal feel into the flowers and table linens, without having it become too “themey.” They also wanted to blend Dana’s Jewish faith into the ceremony and reception.

The Vibe: This couple was all about the fun! They’re huge world travelers and LOVE costumes. They brought this into their wedding decor with the table assignments – instead of different numbers, each table was a different costume theme.

Our Favorite Moments: They had an amazing choreographed first dance and a rollicking Horah – with hard hats on! The day was not without emotion – the first look was at Tucker’s mom’s house. It was a meaningful way to include a beloved family member into their day.
